Team Leicestershire Cross Country dates 2019-20

HISTORY IN THE MAKING!

For 2019 the secondary and primary schools cross country leagues will be combined for the very first time! This initiative creates a perfect pathway for athletes to follow a defined pathway to remain in the sport. The first three races will be held at Prestwold Hall on the following dates.

September 28th

October 26th

November 23rd

The final race of the season, which will include presentations of awards will be held on December 7th. The venue will be advised soon.

The structure and integrity of both leagues will be maintained and we are very sure that the older athletes will appreciates the greater atmosphere generated at the Prestwold Hall venue.

For clarity secondary school athletes compete in four age groups: year sevens, juniors (school years 8 & 9), intermediates (school years 10 & 11) and seniors (school years 12 & 13). Athletes in all age groups will compete for both individual and school team titles.

In the individual competition the best three results from the league races count towards the championships.
In the team competition the number of athletes required to make a team varies depending on age group. The number of athletes required for a team in year seven has been equalled out.

The timetable for secondary events is as follows:

Race 1 Inter/Senior Boys 9.30

Race 2 Inter/Senior Girls 9.35

Race 3 Junior Boys 9.45

Race 4 Junior Girls 9.50

Race 9 Year 7 Girls 11.00

Race 10 Year 7 Boys 11.15

Teams

Year 7 and junior girls and boys – 5 athletes.

Intermediate and senior girls and boys – 3 athletes

The cumulative score of all of the athletes in the team make up the team score for each race, with the best three races counting as in the individual competition.

Athletes and schools do not need to pre-register for any races, but are asked to collect and complete a results slip which should be returned to the registration desk at the end of each event. This will enable a speedy turnaround and publishing of results

Races at secondary level are not run with hares however the courses will be well marked and marshalled. Maps will be available on this website prior to each event.
